How does Fair Deal work out what I pay?
If you are single, HSE assesses 80% of assessable income and 7.5% per year of assessable assets after a €36,000 disregard. The family home is counted for three years only (22.5% cap). Couples use a €72,000 disregard. Source: HSE Fair Deal financial assessment, verified 2026.
Where do the weekly euro figures come from?
The HSE Section 40 list publishes the maximum weekly agreed price for each approved private and voluntary nursing home. Examples from the 2 July 2026 list: Aclare House Nursing Home €1,430/wk and Alzheimer’s Care Centre €1,502/wk. The “1” and “113” beside those names are list row numbers, not HIQA OSV IDs.
